The
students will create a class book and class Power Point presentation about the
people who are important to our daily life at school based on the book The
Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown.
We will remember to give credit to Ms. Brown for writing such a
wonderful adaptable book for classroom use.
Read
The Important Book to the class. Brainstorm a list of people important
in our school. Have the students choose someone that is important in our daily
lives at school. We will need to brainstorm questions we will ask each person
we take a picture of and interview. Each pair of students will then take a
digital camera and go take a picture of a person from the list and interview
them. They will come back to the
classroom and work on the cloze the students will be using by going through the
writing process. Students will
begin typing the cloze they have written in class into a document then save it
into My Documents as V-mc[name] during our computer time. Students will then take the
photo and put into the text document they have typed. We will then print out the page and make
a book for our classroom.
I
then will have my students save their page to a thumb drive after they print
their page. We take it to our
classroom to begin working with Power Point. In the classroom each student will
add their page to a page in a Power Point presentation
I have already set up.
The
Cloze: The important thing about my
school is ___ because ____. It is
true she/he can ____, ____, and _____, but the important thing is ___. [A picture will then be inserted
to go with their text.]
Materials:
digital
camera, computer, pencil, paper, The
Important Book
Assessment
Strategies:
The
student’s completed page for the book and their slide for the Power Point
We
will show our PP at our Open House for parents to see.
RubiStar is a great source to create
a rubric for this project. Here is one I created to meet my needs for this
project.
