off on the porch before that time as we have no on-duty supervision until 7:30.
For any questions regarding bus transportation, please call Mrs. Thorson at
extension 307.
You must call the lunchroom at 725-2455. The front office cannot answer
any questions regarding lunch accounts.
All of our teachers send home weekly newsletters. This has the upcoming
information that you may need, and should also have their preferred form of
communication listed. You may check their website for their email address.
If you call the front office, a message will be taken or you will be transferred
to voice mail for the teacher to receive during her planning time.
Davina Mann is the Coordinator for this program. You may speak to her
or speak to Teresa in the front office.

gym to a car. Please do not walk up to the gym and ask for your child.

A parent has three school days to send in excuses. After this,
the absence will be marked unexcused.
It is helpful to call the school but not required. If your child is
absent, we may call and check on him/her because we care concerned about your
child. Please note that just because you called or we called you does not
mean you do not have to send in a written note. A written excuse is still
required.
It is the parent's responsibility to send a note. Please see the Code
of Conduct. Quite frankly, we do send out reminders on teacher's weekly
calendars, the principal's monthly menu and many other types of correspondences.
We simply do not have the time to call individuals. Most teachers ask
students on a daily basis for excuses.
Yes. However, the school will not call you when we do not receive an
excuse. It is the parent's responsibility to make sure the school receives
the note. The fax number to the school is 725-2979.
This falls under prior permission by the principal at the request of the
parent/guardian. Typically, Dr. Donna will excuse a death or terminal
illness of extended family members or the birth of a sibling. However, the
written note most state this information or the parents must call the office and
let Dr. Donna know this information. The school will not call the parent
and ask them to explain what the emergency was.
This also falls under prior permission. Business trips, family
vacations, and field trips with other grade levels or schools have not been
given prior permission.
You will receive a letter upon your first unexcused absence. This
letter is a form letter that all Madison County Schools have been asked to send
to support new attendance guidelines passed by the Alabama State Department of
Education. After you sign the letter, it is placed in your child's
records. After 5 unexcused absences, you will be required to attend a
meeting with the truancy officer for Madison County Schools. If you feel
you receive a letter in error, please call the school, and we will be glad to
discuss the specifics of your situation.
You will receive a letter with the first unexcused absence. After 5
unexcused absences, you will be required to attend an information meeting with
the truancy officer with Madison County Schools. She may then choose to
file a petition with the court after 7 unexcused absences.
No, that is counted unexcused. Riding the school bus is not a
guaranteed right. If a child cannot behave and endangers the safety of
others, he/she will not be allowed to ride. This does not have anything to
do with school attendance. The parents is still required to make sure the
child attends school.
A student is allowed 10 illnesses with a note from a parent. After the
10th absence for illness, all absences must have a doctor's excuse.
Please sign your child in after 7:45. Your child must receive a tardy
pass from the office in order for their absence from homeroom to be changed to a
tardy. The teachers try to ask for the tardy passes, but if your child
does not stop and get one, his/her absences will likely not be changed to tardy.
This could lead to an unexcused absence letter being sent in error. If you
receive a letter you feel may be because of a tardy, please call the office and
we will correct this. It is important that an adult sign the child in to
help avoid this.
Absolutely!! We often have work from the teachers that you may help us
with or copying that needs to be done for the front office. Please call
Teresa in the front office to see what our needs are at the current time.
