A Short History: Shortly after World War I, 1920 to be exact, the citizens of the small community of New Hope, Alabama got together enough money ($40,000 dollars) to build the first New Hope High School. That building remained, along with modifications and other additions, until 1958 when a completely new building was constructed and the original high school building was converted to be used by the elementary. Sadly, the original New Hope High School building was completely destroyed by fire in the 1980s. Although additional renovations were made in 1988, the appearance of the 1958 high school building remained virtually unchanged until now. The new New Hope high school building has been built on the site of the old middle school and 5th through 8th grades will now occupy the old high school. Although it's not shown in the architect's rendering, the new gym was also completed just in time as the year 2000 basketball season was ushered in.

NHHS is near some great local attractions such as: the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Lake Guntersville, the Tennessee River and the Cathedral Caverns. New Hope High School is proud to be part of Alabama's Madison County School System along with Buckhorn, Hazel Green, Madison County, and Sparkman high schools.
