American Red Cross First Aid Room 2008-2009
|
Your questions answered… What is the First Aid Room? The First Aid Room is a place for sick or injured students to receive care until they are well enough to go back to class or they are picked up from school. Who works in the First Aid Room? The First Aid Room is staffed by American Red Cross volunteers.
Can the First Aid Room volunteers give my child medication? NO. You may bring medication to school to administer personally to your child. If you desire medications to be kept at the school for your child, please contact the School Nurse. Where does the First Aid Room get all those supplies? The First Aid Room is funded by donations. The MVMS PTO and parents have generously donated in the past. How many students did the First Aid Room treat last year? The First Aid Room had 2584 visits during the 2007-2008 school year. How can I help? I’m glad you asked! There are several ways. 1.
Become a volunteer. Training is available. 2.
Be sure you
have turned in the Student Information Card for your student. (It is a half sheet of white cardstock with
places to fill in contact/medical information and was sent home on the first
day of school). 3.
Keep you
contact information updated with the school registrar. 4.
Keep your
medical information updated with the school nurse. 5.
Donate
supplies. Thank
you to the people that have already donated supplies this year! Our
current needs are: Ø Gatorade in 64 ounce (or smaller) bottles Ø Packages of Crackers (Peanut Butter and Saltines) Ø Gauze Pads (2” x 2” and
4”x4”) How can I find out more/ask a question/make a comment? Contact: Debbie Mazenko, Chairperson (256) 527-1343 E-mail: debbiemaz@netscape.net Updated
