Instrumental Music Course Syllabus

The instrumental music department of Meridianville Middle School strives to provide a learning environment for all students in the field of music through participation in either a beginner band program, intermediate band program, or an advanced band program.  The band director provides guidance in the learning and enjoyment of different types of music and instills an appreciation for different cultures through their musical training.  Note values, rhythm recognition, form, and texts are a few tools used to enhance the students’ musical knowledge.

Goals of the Meridianville Middle School Band Program

The instrumental music director will teach all levels of instrumental music so as to provide a good musical experience and appreciation for the art.  Note values, note recognition, music reading skill, and proficiency on an instrument are the desired end result.  Students will achieve this successfully through performances of these skills to parents and to the public in general.
