Mr. Fields went to college at Alabama A&M University. In 1990 he graduated with a B.S. Industrial Engineering Tech. degree. Then he graduated with a M.S. Industrial Engineering Tech in 1994. After that he graduated with a M.S. Industrial Technology Education degree in 1997. This year will be his 12th year of teaching.

Syllabus

OBJECTIVE:

To educate the student through a hands-on, minds-on approach to vocational education.  During the school semester, the student will be expected to:

1. obey all safety rules within the technology lab

2. learn about trades that will be of benefit to them in the future

3. learn to work in a team environment

4. practice good housekeeping skills in the technology lab

5. respect the teacher as well as their fellow students
 

MATERIALS:

1. Pencil

2. Notebook

The teacher will provide the necessary reading resources.  Student will work in the technology lab for the majority of the semester.
 

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES:

1st nine weeks -- history, drafting, problem solving safety, 3 modules

2nd nine weeks -- communication systems, careers exploration, educational planning,3 modules
 
 

EVALUATION:

The students will be working on each module for a period of two weeks.  The grading of these module activities will be as follows:

Per module: Pretest 100 pts

Daily Assessment 25 pts (per activity - 10 per module)

Vocabulary                                            50 pts

Posttest                                                   100 pts (2 per module)

Effort                                                     50 pts

Total                                        600 pts

 CLASS PROCEDURES AND RULES:

1.  Food, candy, gum and drinks are not allowed in the technology lab.

2.  Students must raise their hand and wait to be recognized when asking or answering a question.

3.  Students will come to class on time. Attendance will be taken daily.

4.  Any disciplinary problems will be dealt with promptly and according to the guidelines in the student/parent handbook concerning students code of conduct.
