Hi and welcome to my classroom's web site!  I am currently teaching 6th graders at Central in Huntsville, Alabama.  This is my 15th year of teaching!  I enjoy teaching and have always known this is what I wanted to do.  I love to see students develop and change over the course of a year and throughout the remainder of their school career.

My teaching career began 14 years ago at Central teaching in first grade.  I taught first grade for 6 years then moved to fourth grade.  While teaching fourth grade I fell in love with Alabama history. I am so very excited to continue my career in 6th grade where I will teach my favorite time period in American history, 1877 to present.

I have lived in Alabama my entire life.  I graduated from MCHS in 1985.  In 1991 I graduated from Athens State College with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I continued my education by pursuing a Master's degree in technology integration in the k-12 classroom from Nova Southeastern University in 2006.

I currently serve on Central's technology committee as well as the Madison County District technology committee. I am also the webmaster for Community for Teaching America's Past (CTAP). During the summer I teach technology workshops for area teachers and travel with the CTAP history group. This summer I plan to travel to Kansas City, Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia.

My goal for this school year is to integrate technology & reading into my history curriculum. I began planning for this school year as soon as my summer started.

This web site was developed to share with my students, their parents, and fellow educators.  My hope is that it will become a great resource for anyone who visits.  I am continually searching for new ways to use this site.  Thanks for visiting!
